Google search redirect is a very annoying problem caused by malicious software. Typically, when user searches something on Google and clicks on any of the search results, he gets redirected to irrelevant websites, usually occupied with advertisements and online surveys. However, if user copies and pastes URL from Google reach results redirectly, redirect doesn’t occur. Malware that causes Google redirects may redirect search results depending on keywords and country. That’s just one of the methods used by scammers to make money from botnets. Note, it’s not about the web browser. You can reinstall your web browser multiple times, however, this won’t fix the problem. Google search redirect is caused by a rootkit, most likely Zero Access or TDSS. It’s a type of malware that can download other malware onto your computer and perform various actions to otherwise monetize botnet traffic, for example using click fraud schemes. If your Google search results are redirect, run TDSSKiller and Zero Access removal tool to remove the rootkit if exists. Then check your LAN settings and Windows hosts file. There is a virus that may even change your router settings and redirect you to unrelated websites. For more details, please read What to do when Google/Yahoo/Bing results are redirecting?. And finally, scan your computer with Spyware Doctor to remove additional malware from your computer and protect the system against new security threats.
